SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

Nestled in the heart of London, just moments from Buckingham Palace, Sofitel London St James is a distinguished five-star hotel that blends timeless elegance with a resolute commitment to environmental and social responsibility. Housed in a striking Grade II listed building—originally the headquarters of Cox and King’s Bank in 1923—Sofitel London St James became a flagship property for the Sofitel brand in 2002. Today, the hotel offers 183 beautifully appointed rooms and is home to a collection of exceptional experiences: the refined Rose Lounge, the vibrant St James Bar, our award- winning spa, and the Michelin-starred Wild Honey St James and its sister concept, Bistrot at Wild Honey. We take pride in leading sustainable hospitality, holding Green Key certification and EarthCheck Silver accreditation—two globally recognised standards of excellence in sustainable tourism and environmental management. Understanding the environmental and social impact of daily operations, we have established a dedicated Sustainability Department, led by a CSR Manager and Sustainability Coordinator. Together, they ensure our practices align with ambitious, measurable sustainability targets across all departments. Our sustainability strategy is built upon six core pillars, guiding our progress in environmental stewardship and social inclusion. Through annual data assessments, we set targeted actions and benchmarks to continuously improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and promote responsible sourcing. Working in close collaboration with Accor and our in-house Green Team, Sofitel London St James actively addresses Corporate Social Responsibility goals. We engage all stakeholders—guests, staff, suppliers, and contractors—in our sustainability journey. Particular focus is placed on supporting local businesses and sourcing sustainable products wherever possible. 94% of our workforce lives in London, ensuring that the vast majority of our team is locally based yet bring with them rich international backgrounds. We prioritise hiring locally to support our community and reduce the environmental impact of commuting. Sofitel London St James remains fully compliant with national legal and labour regulations and is committed to the highest standards of ethical conduct. We believe true luxury is not only about refinement and service—but also about responsibility and impact.
