WELLBEING & INCLUSION

At The Lakes, we believe that student wellbeing is integral to achieving academic success and enables children and young people to strengthen their sense of connectedness and build their capacity to learn in a safe, respectful and supportive environment. Our commitment to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment ensures that every student can thrive both emotionally and academically. Wellbeing is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. We understand that students who feel safe, valued, and supported are more engaged in their learning and more likely to achieve their full potential. Our approach to education places equal emphasis on mental, emotional, and physical health, recognising that wellbeing and learning are inextricably linked. The wellbeing team at The Lakes is made up of Welfare and Inclusion Leaders, Youth workers, a Mental Health Practitioner, and a School Nurse. This team responsible for the provision, coordination and evaluation of wellbeing services provided by the College to students and their families. This team is comprised of dedicated professionals committed to providing comprehensive support to students that includes mental health support and counselling, programs, case management, year level and whole school events catering for the diverse needs of our students and school community.

The Disability Inclusion Program at The Lakes is designed to create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for students with disabilities. Our goal is to provide an environment where every student can access the resources and opportunities they need to achieve their full potential.

Promotes Equity: Disability inclusion ensures that all students have the same opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed. It is a crucial step towards achieving educational equity. Builds Empathy and Understanding: Inclusive environments help all students develop empathy and understanding towards their peers with disabilities. This fosters a more compassionate and supportive school community Enhances Learning for All: Inclusive teaching practices benefit all students, not just those with disabilities. Diverse classrooms encourage different perspectives and innovative problem solving.
