SCHOOL COUNCIL PRESIDENT ’ S MESSAGE

Dear New and Incoming Families,

Research has proven that when parents/carers have a strong partnership with their school and are involved with it in some way, their children are likely to be happier, more confident and perform better in their learning and relationships. Your involvement, no matter how big or small, will help us continue to build a community where every student can flourish. For our students, being part of school council activities is a wonderful opportunity to develop leadership skills, meet new friends, and make a positive difference. I encourage all students to explore the various clubs, committees, and programs we offer and to take advantage of these leadership opportunities. Once again, welcome to The Lakes South Morang College. We hope that you will take the opportunity to build a partnership with us and look forward to your active participation in our school community, so that together, we can support our students as they develop their skills as creative problem solvers and critical thinkers. Should you have any questions or wish to learn more about how you can get involved, please don ’ t hesitate to reach out to me or any member of School Council.

On behalf of the members of The Lakes South Morang College School Council, it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our school and to our active and diverse community. At The Lakes, we pride ourselves on fostering an environment where students are encouraged to thrive academically, socially, and personally. Our dedicated teachers and staff are committed to supporting each student ’ s unique journey, ensuring that they feel valued, respected, and inspired to reach their full potential. Our School Council is a very active and action - led body of staff and parents/carers, coming from a wide - range of professional backgrounds that oversee the policy and financial decisions for the school. In addition, we also raise, review, discuss and action issues that are important to our parent/carer community. Strengthening our community engagement with a problem - solving mindset underpins everything we do, and vice versa, a well - informed and effective School Council strengthens community confidence. I therefore would like to extend a special invitation to you and your family to become actively involved in the life of our school, and your voice and participation can make a meaningful impact. Whether it ’ s through attending meetings, lending a hand at events, sharing your ideas and feedback, or helping out in the classroom, there are many ways to get involved and contribute to our school ’ s success.

Warm regards,

Amanda Farrelly School Council President
