Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate The undergraduate Aircraft Dispatcher Certificate prepares students who are interested in airline flight operations management for the standardized written examination and practical test to earn the FAA Aircraft Dispatcher Airman Certificate. Dispatchers are included in the decision loop on equipment failures, weather variations or traffic delays for monitoring the flight’s progress, issuing safety-of-flight information and canceling or re-dispatching the flight. Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science The B.S. in Aeronautical Science provides you with the opportunity to earn a degree while undergoing comprehensive flight training. This degree gives you the technical skills, aviation knowledge and practical experience required to excel in industry and flight. PROGRAMS Associate of Science in Air Traffic Management The A.S. in Air Traffic Management is an introductory program that launches students into the dynamic environment of air traffic control. One of a small number of schools with an FAA designation as an Enhanced Collegiate Training Initiative School, students will be qualified by the FAA for the terminal/ tower portion of an Air Traffic Control certification upon program completion. Aviation Maintenance Takes on the Competition Aviation Maintenance Science students showed excellence at PBExpo 2025 with a second- place team finish overall and top-three scores in seven events. As a part of this master’s degree, you will be able to apply for the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Graduate Safety Practitioner ® (GSP) designation. Science Forward Communication At the Meteorology Broadcasting Studio, students gain practical skills and experience in delivering important scientific and technical information to diverse audiences. Expertise in Flight Management The Airline Research Operations Center supports research across key components of airline operations, serving as the College of Aviation’s hub for work related to dispatch functionality, flight scheduling and planning software, aircraft performance and more. This environment brings together aircraft performance, crew resource management, dispatch, safety, meteorology and air traffic control, giving students a multidisciplinary learning experience grounded in operational reality. Students also strengthen critical-thinking skills by applying federal regulations to air traffic–related challenges through simulated scenarios. Through this work, they develop practical, data-informed solutions that contribute to safer and more efficient airline operations.

Driving Learning into Orbit The Satellite Mission Control Center guides students toward careers in space operations by providing hands-on experience with mission procedures, simulated launches, teamwork and leadership through advanced simulations and virtual reality environments. This facility supports preparation for high-stakes roles in space missions by giving students practical exposure to mission planning, spacecraft operations and decision making. The center features simulation equipment, a full video wall, two nanosatellites, operator console stations, a director station and a mission countdown clock — mirroring professional mission control settings. With access to these tools and scenarios, students build the confidence, technical skill and operational understanding needed to launch successful careers in aviation and aerospace operations.
Hands-On with Aviation Maintenance
The Peter Vosbury Turbine Engine Lab gives Aviation Maintenance Science students key experience with the necessary technical skills and knowledge required to succeed in industry. Working through lessons that cover the operation, inspection and overhaul of a turbine engine, students are prepared to create practical solutions for challenging situations. Home to two test cells, the Peter Vosbury Turbine Engine Lab is fully equipped and can accommodate small- to medium-sized aircraft engines (piston, turboprop, turboshaft and turbojet engines) and low-thrust rocket engines with up to 8,000 pounds of thrust. With the test cells, students measure engine parameters and the fuel system for functioning J-34 turbojet engines and J-34 turbojet engines.

Types of Aid and Assistance Federal and State Grants
These grants are available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are enrolled at least half-time in a degree program. To remain eligible, you must make satisfactory academic progress and not be in default or owe a return repayment on a grant or loan.
