The ʻ Fallen Star ʼ memorial dedication in honor of Major General Harold J. Greene. The Gold Star Mothers and Families at the dedication event. Former Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger, Janice Chance, a Gold Star Mother and Edward St. John admire the memorial during the dedication event. St. John Properties felt it was important to pay tribute to the General and to honor the other fallen heroes along with their families, the company commissioned local artists to create a special tribute. In September 2015 the ‘Fallen Star’ Memorial at APG was dedicated. In October 2016 a second sculpture was dedicated at the Memorial to honor the Gold Star Mothers and Gold Star Families for their significant sacrifice, service and patriotism. Impact St. John Properties believes it is important to be a good corporate citizen in the communities where it operates. A prime example of this philosophy has been illustrated at The GATE at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) in Aberdeen, Maryland, where the ‘Fallen Star’ Memorial stands as a tribute to Major General Harold “Harry” Greene, the warfighters and their families. In August 2014, the world learned of the tragic death of Major General Greene in Afghanistan. The General had served at APG prior to his deployment overseas, and was the highest-ranked officer killed in combat since the Vietnam War. 1 2 3
