Long bodied bull with added frame from an extra gentle, eye appealing 11-year-old cow that has done an excellent job over the years. She posts a nursing ratio of 109 and produced the Lot 51 Growth Fund son in 2023 for the Stanley Bay Farm, a nice Quarterback son in our 2022 sale, a Jet-Black son that sold to Dana Hotz in the 2021 sale and a good Tour of Duty son for the Gerving Ranch in the 2017 sale. She has an excellent daughter retained. A top curve bender prospect, this gentle bull is in the top 10% for WW & YW growth. His granddam was an excellent cow and weaned 13 calves during her 15-year career having never missed and leaving us with several very nice daughters. This bull will be approx. 20 months old at spring turnout. 3/8 Sim 5/8 Angus.

A younger bull in our sale, but one with tremendous figures, and one that will mature into a bigger framed individual. This bull offers a big EPD spread with top end growth numbers from a promising first calf heifer. His 11-year-old granddam has been a solid cow that always weans one of the heaviest calves in the fall. ¼ Sim, ¾ Angus.

the High Point program philosophy
• There are no short cuts to building a great cow herd. Discipline and strict culling practices are essential and must be ongoing. • We believe all cows in a seedstock operation must be forced to compete with one another in large contemporary groups throughout their lifetime. Each year they must earn the right to stay on the team. We do not rely on donor cows to build our program or computers to make our breeding decision. • We believe genomics are here to stay and agree they add value. However, the number-craze of the high carcass EPD extremes reminds us of pitfalls of the past. In the 50s cattle were belt buckle high, the shorter the better. Fast forward 35 years to the 80s and cattle were bred to the other extreme with frame scores reaching 10. We look back on those times and wonder where was common sense? Today, another 35 years have passed and the trend for some is to chase the most extreme carcass numbers possible. At High Point, we rely on time-tested breeding strategies, and our common sense, to get the best out of our herd. • We believe in maintaining balance in our program. We aim to gradually push the needle in terms of overall performance while doing our best to ensure the convenience traits that make Angus #1, continue to remain the foundation and strength of our cow herd. • We believe the commercial Cowmen that come to High Point to invest in our genetics want bulls that will do their job for an average of 4-5 breeding seasons. They require a bull that will stay sound, have a good disposition, and not cause any problems. They need his calves to be born unassisted and then weigh down the scales on sale day. The majority retain heifer calves as replacements and expect his females to be productive, problem free and possess longevity. Finally, we understand our genetics end up in the feedlot where they must ultimately excel. Large feedlots simply desire to feed honest, good doing, healthy calves that have added length and a little extra frame. They desire reputation Angus based calves that can gain with the best. Good cattle that fit these criteria pay the bills for all segments of our industry and is what we strive to produce at High Point Genetics.
