Outputs Publicly sharable layers NC_COA_2025

This raster layer contains the three tiers of COAs produced above, as well as classes denoting estuarine and ocean areas, and portions of NC not identified as COAs. It does not contain any sensitive information. Fields • Descript – The text shown in the legend for each class Summary of results In total, the COAs span 16.8 million acres, covering about 52% of inland NC (i.e. the non- estuarine or marine portion of the state). Roughly 4.5 million acres (27%) of the COAs are already protected, according to the Protected Areas Database of the United States. 94% of the COAs are identified by the Southeast Conservation Blueprint as a regional priority for a connected network of lands and waters. The COAs also capture 90% of the above average areas for climate resilience within inland NC.
