The 2024-2027 Lands Legacy Program Action Plan is available online https://www.orangecountync.gov/DocumentCenter/View/7662/Lands-Legacy-Action-Plan- 2024-2027. In Wake County, the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Division protects valuable land through purchases or conservation easements in areas targeted for protection. The County is updating its Comprehensive Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan, which will guide decisions about protection and conservation of county land and water over the next 10 years, benefitting current residents and future generations. The Open Space Program also provides matching funds to partners for purchases of land or conservation easements. More information is available online https://www.wake.gov/departments-government/parks-recreation-open- space. The Community Conservation Assistance Program (CCAP) is a voluntary program that works at the county level with urban, suburban, and rural landowners interested in reducing their contributions to nonpoint source pollution. County soil and water programs offer free technical assistance to evaluate drainage and erosion issues. The CCAP can provide assistance for installation of qualifying BMPs (e.g., rain gardens, riparian buffers, stormwater wetlands, stream restoration, permeable pavement, and other conservation measures). Information about the program is available online https://www.ncagr.gov/divisions/soil-water- conservation/programs-initiatives/ccap.
