RL Fleckvieh Limerock Ranch - Annual Bull and Bred Female Sale [2/14/26]

to the 43 rd Annual Limerock Bull & Bred Female Sale

Starting off this year’s

national cow herd of this size. The heifer/steer ratio as of 1-1-26 was still not showing much if any expansion. We should continue with very attractive prices for 2-3 years and possibly longer if the packers & politics stay out of it. As always, the bulls are never fed creep and never receive more than 14 lbs of ground ear corn, 1 1/2 lbs of protein during development. They get grass hay 1st cutting, haylage, very little corn sileage as a growing and development diet. The criteria for making it to sale day are strict. They are chosen for feet, legs, muscle, testicle size, gain ability, vigor and carcass value. If they fail these even with the “best” genetics they are culled. Every bull we offer here will sire some you your best uddered and fertile females. The bred heifers we are offering are sired by Limerock bulls and our customer’s cows. Over 2/3rds of this year’s offerings are 2nd & 3rd generation Limerock bred. Rest assured the boys & I are hard on the heifers that we offer in the sale. These heifers being offered in the sale are the top of nearly 100 heifers we started with in the fall of 2024. They are a really nice set of bred heifers and I wish I could keep them myself. I am starting to catch on to this retirement thing, and my partner says we are selling them :) Please enjoy your day here at the sale for those of you who can make it. If not, hope to have you catch it online with DV auction. There are no words to express how much we appreciate your support, friendship and business. We are honored to have you believe in our program. We hope to see you next February 2027 at the new Limerock Ranch in Russell Iowa. To our family, neighbors and friends. I say it every year, but we are blessed. We could not have created this business without sacrifices by our family and because of those people who are always a phone call away. Whether that be getting cattle back in, fixing fence, working cattle, feeding the help or making hay we have a community of people who always rally around us. It took all of you. We appreciate you and we are so incredibly thankful.

opening statement sharing some news of a move coming up for us. We found a place in South Central Iowa outside of the town of Russell where we will be relocating the Limerock operation to as of March 1st. This move will help us with much needed pasture ground all in one spot. The buildings and facilities are also a definite step up and will allow us to be more efficient in our operation. I know there’s a lot of buzz

about the move so just wanted to share that info and that will continue on as the Limerock Ranch. It’s a good move for us, although it will be difficult to leave here. So many great memories and sales have happened. Raised 5 kids, had our last Christmas at the Limerock on Jan 3rd. It was fun but difficult. I remember our first open house/sale in the house garage. We had 23 people show up. I think we sold 9 of the 13 bulls in just a few minutes. I just looked it up and they averaged $1846. We will take the memories with us and we are ready to create some more. Just at a different location. The cattle market has changed several times since those first sales and will continue to move up and down but for the most part people love to eat beef. Demand drives this market. I don’t think we will have a huge expansion like we did in 2015-17. The American Cattleman is just a bit younger than me and we need to get more young people involved to even maintain a
