Hellebores are the undeniable heralds of spring—pushing through winter chill with elegant flowers and evergreen foliage that command attention at retail and in the landscape. Our Frostkiss ® Hellebores represent a breakthrough in modern breeding: a distinctive family of hybrids that combine the dramatic marbled foliage associated with ericsmithii types and the saturated floral color more typical of orientalis .After more than a decade of focused breeding and years refining our propagation methods, we’re proud to offer North America one of the most innovative and reliable collections of Hellebores available today.
With so many forms of Hellebore on the market, understanding the differences is key to building a successful program. Most commercial offerings fall into three groups— niger, orientalis, and hybrids. Frostkiss ® sits squarely in the hybrid category, delivering the best attributes of each parentage. They are exceptionally grower- friendly, provided a few simple guidelines are followed. And unlike many orientalis selections that require multiple seasons to bloom, Frostkiss ® varieties flower reliably within one year of planting, with impressive uniformity across crops.
WHY ORDER HELLEBORE FROM PP&L?
LATER TO BLOOM & LONGER TO SHINE Frostkiss ® varieties bloom slightly later than traditional niger types—typically opening in late January and holding strong through April or even longer depending on climate. This timing extends your spring sales window and positions crops perfectly for peak demand. HEAT TOLERANT Hellebores are not commonly associated with warm climates—but this series breaks the rules. With the right cultural practices (we’re happy to share them), Frostkiss ® performs beautifully in regions where other Hellebores struggle.
GUARANTEED UNIFORMITY Our liners originate from tissue culture—not seed—which means dependable uniformity and predictable bloom timing. Tissue culture also ensures first-year flowering, eliminating the multi-year wait often associated with seed-grown crops.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT Even experienced growers appreciate
expert insight. PP&L partners directly with the Frostkiss ® breeder to provide best-in-class growing guidance.Whether you’re new to Hellebores or fine-tuning your program, we’re here to help.
