PARKS

CENTENNIAL PARK

Location: 3219 McLean Rd. Year Opened/Upgraded: Upgraded in 2018 with the addition of two softball fields Unique Feature: Centennial Park has a dual purpose with a frisbee golf/foot golf course located just across McLean Rd. that can be accessed via the trail that follows Mary’s Creek and takes you safely under McLean to the other side of the road. This course is great if you want to practice your frisbee golf skills through the mature trees or perfect your soccer shots with the foot golf goals placed at the foot of the frisbee baskets.

Highlights Even though City facilities were closed to the general public, it was imperative that the team at the Knapp Activity Center (KAC) continue to provide essential services such as the meals program and to work in creating a connection with members, even if the outreach looked different than normal. Through the partnership with ActionS of Brazoria County, the City of Pearland has been able to alter the existing meal services offered daily to members at the center, serving more than 180 participants weekly, ensuring that participants are still receiving adequate nutrition. Teammembers at the KAC are doing everything they can to combat feelings of isolation and are working diligently to connect seniors to resources needed. Social media has provided a platform for virtual programs, emphasizing online fitness classes, virtual field trips and extra engagement efforts.
