PROGRAMS & SERVICES The Melvin Knapp Activity Center offers a variety of programs and services: ■ Daily meal services ■ Various club and craft classes ■ Health and fitness classes ■ Socials, dances and special events ■ Field trips ■ Access to weight and cardio area, computer lab and library
COVID-19 CLOSURES ■ The KAC consistently serves 180 boxes of five frozen meals every week to ensure that members are still receiving adequate nutrition even though they cannot participate in the congregate meals normally served Monday through Friday at the KAC. ■ Online exercise classes have been offered to members to supplement face-to-face classes normally offered at the KAC. Online classes are attended consistently by members. ■ The KAC Facebook community, Knapp Connected, has grown by more than 150 percent since the initial closure date in March. Many members utilize Facebook as a way to keep in contact with friends even though they cannot see them in person. ■ Randi Wyatt (facility supervisor) and Celeste Rogers (program specialist) were recognized in the National Recreation and Park Association magazine Parks & Recreation in July for their efforts during COVID-19 to ensure that all members of the KAC are provided with a hot meal each day.

CELESTE ROGERS Title: Program Specialist Fun Fact: I have worked for Parks & Recreation since I was a summer camp counselor in college. Why I Serve: I serve because I love seeing the smiles on my members’ faces every day. Lucky for me, I now have about 100 sets of grandparents whom I take pride in serving every single day.
Why I Serve: I serve because I want to help my seniors enjoy their retirement years. We offer program activities to keep them socially and physically active!
