When my phone rang and one of my best friends told me she was ready to lock arms with me and build a Melaleuca business, I was over- the-moon excited. But she had one stipulation: she didn’t want to do any live group presentations. I agreed that we’d try her way and see what happened. So she set up 10 virtual appointments with 10 potential customers! Eight were excited to shop with Melaleuca, but only 7 became Melaleuca Members. She missed advancing to Director by one enrollment. Her first check from Melaleuca totaled $161. She called me and expressed how that amount didn’t adequately reflect all the work she had put in to enroll those 7
customers. And I said, “I agree. But you’re not being very coachable. You’re not willing to do in-homes or try it my way.” And she said, “Okay. I’m ready to be coachable.” During the next month we set up three appointments for live, in-home presentations of the Melaleuca Overview. I coached her on the approaches, the confirmations, and the closes. That first night, she stood up in front of a group of women and said, “You guys, I’m so excited to help you set up your shopping accounts! You’re absolutely going to love being a Melaleuca customer. But five years from now you’re going to wish you had said yes to building a Melaleuca business because
I’m going places. If you’re open to learning more, Courtney is going to stay and talk a little bit more about the business model.” Guess what? Every single person in that room stuck around. Of course, not every single person at those in-home presentations enrolled as a new customer. Not all of them decided to lock arms with us and build a business. But that month, Corinne Cochrane triple advanced to Director 3 and received a check for over $2,400! Eleven months later, after presenting the Melaleuca Overview countless
