T H E K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S woman was told recently that she must go to the hospital for a severe opera tion. She taught this particular class on the very afternoon she was to leave for the hospital, and God lovingly and graciously gave her, as a last token, before her ordeal, the soul of this woman,— no longer a heathen, for she has received several months’ teaching under the Bible woman— and now will ingly and understanding^ has given her heart to the Lord. Needless to say, the Bible woman went trustfully and joy fully to the hospital, rejoicing in the goodness of God. The Joy of Soul Winning Since the New Year the worker has been striving more than ever to impress upon the class members the necessity of winning souls to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour. At the be ginning of one Bible Class, the invita tion was given for any one who had won a soul during the last week to rise and give his experience. Two arose and with beaming faces, told of the joy they had had in leading a soul to Christ. Then the usual prayer was offered. It was time to commence the Bible study, but a gentleman arose and asked per mission to tell how hq had given a night’s hospitality to two young men during a fearful storm in the country back east. That night he told them of the Saviour. And now just the other day, he had found that both young men had gone into the ministry! Then the Bible woman was prompted by the Holy Spirit to give a very peculiar invita tion, namely, for those who had not won a soul during the last week, to stand on their feet and say boldly, “ I want to win a soul this week.” A timid little woman rose and made this declara tion, then another rose, and then more until many had expressed themselves in this way. It was a blessed season and there was not much time for the lesson that day, but we went away rejoicing that the Lord had stepped m and changed the program. A Catholic Woman Rejoicing After one of the Bible classes a Cath olic woman tarried to hear about the way of salvation as the Bible teaches it. Of course it was difficult for her to be lieve it was in any other way than by works. We took her to Ephesians 2:8, 9, and had her read it out loud. To explain “ Grace” we gave her the illus tration of a young woman receiving her

pay check at the end of the month. It would merely he the company paying her a debt they owed, just as Paul says in Romans 4:4, “ To him that worketh is the reward— reckoned— of debt.” 'But the case was cited of the company fol lowing this check'with a bonus check, a free gift from the company. This would be the grace Paul speaks of in the above passage that is not worked for! With a quick smile she said, “ Oh, I see, Grace is something for nothing!”. Then the three words in Ephesians 2:9 were pointed out, “Not of works.” After further conversation, she will ingly bowed her head and we prayed. Then stopping we said, “Now I could not invite any one into your house, and neither can I invite Jesus into your heart. You must do that yourself!” Then came a spontaneous little prayer in her own words inviting the Lord to come in as her own Saviour. Showing her John 3:36, we said, “ You have be lieved on the Son,—what does the Bible say you have?” “Why, I have ever lasting life!” “ Romans 10:9 says, ‘If thou shalt confess’—Will you confess Jesus to your friends?” For the worker had seen her friends holding a little prayer meeting at the back of the room. “ Yes,” she said, “ I will.” She went joyfully to meet her friends and ex claimed, “ I have taken Jesus Christ for my Saviour.” Thus were many faithful prayers an swered, and the dear friends had joy overflowing. ste ate HARBOR WORK F.
