Alecmoved into the disputes sector on joining Clyde&Co in 1977, having previously spent five years handling corporate insolvencies. Hemanaged the Hong Kong office from1984 onwards, acting on headline cases such as the Carrian fraud andmany ‘phantom’ ship frauds. Alec also handled numerous arbitrations, investment disputes, disaster and commercial contract litigation, andmost areas of insurance dispute resolution. He returned to London in 1996, and thenmoved to the Dubai office in 1999 as Head of the Dispute Resolution Group. In 2008, Alec retired from the partnership to work as an independent arbitrator, and remains with the firmas a consultant acting for clients in complex disputes (including ADCCAC, DIAC, DIFC-LCIA, ICC, LCIA, LMMA, SCMA&SIAC disputes). He sits as an arbitrator in awide range of disputes under most of these institutions’ rules as well as in UNCITRAL and other ad hoc arbitrations. Alec has been listed as a leading individual in the International Who’sWho of Commercial Arbitration since 2009.

Susie joined Clyde&Co in 2002 and qualified as a solicitor in 2005. She has worked in both Clyde&Co’s London and Dubai offices and is currently a legal director based in Clyde&Co’s dispute resolution department in Dubai. Susie specialises in all aspects of dispute resolution and has particular expertise in energy related claims, corporate and banking fraud, property construction and foreign direct investment. Most recently, Susie is regularly appointed as an arbitrator by the Dubai International Arbitration Centre in commercial and property disputes and she has extensive experience in local and international arbitrations, including at the DIAC, LCIA, ICC and ZCC.
