Who was Toma Rosandić? Toma Rosandić was born in 1878 in Split and baptised as Tomaso Vincenzo. He came to Belgrade prior to World War I as an already experienced exhibitor at international exhibitions in Vienna, Rome, London and Paris. He was a professor at the Art School in Belgrade and was later among the founders of the Art Academy, serving as its first rector. He became a reg- ular member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1948. After returning to Belgrade in the early 1920s, he had a house built at Ljube Jovanovića Street 3 in the Senjak neigh- bourhood, where he lived and created in the decades that fol- lowed. He bequeathed his house and works to the City of Bel- grade as a legacy. “Our people are incapable of seeing sculpture. eir eye isn’t accustomed to seeing forms and enjoying their beauty. ey are accustomed to understanding only through words, through ears. And even those who know how to analyse all kinds of abstractions down to the most minute detail stand in front of a sculpture without understanding it. In sculpture one does not seek sculptural content in which the forms come to full expression as such, rather one seeks some abstract con- tent, looking for an anecdote, and it is unknown that an anec- dote, even when it exists, lives only through the sculptural val- ue of the work...” is was how the great Rosandić spoke about understanding sculpture generally. Who is Viktor Kiš? A graduate of the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade, he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions and projects in the country and abroad, as well as important sculpture symposia. He is the author of the visual identity of the Warrior Dance Festival, at which he presented himself to the audience with monumental sculptures - Danc- ers in welded iron, which were created for the needs of the band e Prodigy. He is best known as the founder of the Devet [Nine] festival held at the Old Brickyard in Belgrade, where he has himself exhibited sculptures. In late January 2020, the Government of Serbia appointed him as the acting director of the Mu- seum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade.
Ko je bio Toma Rosandić Toma Rosandić rođen je 1878. u Splitu kao Tomazo Vin- čenco. U Beograd je došao pre Prvog svetskog rata kao već iskusan izlagač na međunarodnim izložbama u Beču, Rimu, Londonu i Parizu. Bio je profesor Umetničke škole u Beo- gradu, kasnije jedan od osnivača i prvi rektor Umetničke akademije. Redovni član SANU postao je 1948. Po povrat- ku u Beograd, početkom dvadesetih godina 20. veka, u Uli- ci Ljube Jovanovića 3, na Senjaku, izgradio je kuću u kojoj je živeo i stvarao u narednim decenijama. Kuću i radove za- veštao je kao legat Beogradu. „Naši ljudi ne umeju da gledaju skulpturu. Njihovo oko nije naviknuto da vidi oblike i da uživa u njihovoj lepoti. Naviknuti su da razumeju samo kroz reči, preko uha. Čak i oni koji znaju do tančina analizirati svakojake apstrakci- je stoje pred skulpturom ne razumevajući je. U skulpturi se ne traži skulptorski sadržaj u kojem oblici kao takvi dolaze do potpunog izražaja, već se traži neki apstraktni sadržaj, traži se anegdota, a ne zna se da anegdota, i kad je ima, živi samo kroz skulptorsku vrednost dela...“ Tako je govorio ve- liki Rosandić o shvatanju skulpture uopšte. Završio je Fakultet primenjenih umetnosti u Beogradu, učesnik je brojnih kolektivnih izlož- bi i projekata u zemlji i inostranstvu i značaj- nih simpozijuma skulpture. Tvorac je vizuelnog identiteta Festivala Vorior dens , na kojem se publici predstavio monumentalnim
skulpturama – Plesačima u va- renom gvožđu koje su izrađe- ne za potrebe grupe Prodidži . Najpoznatiji je kao osnivač fe- stivala Devet u prostoru Stare ciglane u Beogradu, na kom je i sam izlagao skulpture. Vla- da Srbije ga je krajem januara 2020. imenovala za vršioca duž- nosti direktora Muzeja savreme- ne umetnosti u Beogradu.
