To make visible the capacity of that achievement from the first Serb in America, Đorđe Šagić, until today T he documentary feature film Tesla Nation, which has been officially nominated for an Oscar in 2020, presents more than 70 prom- inent Serbs who have marked the growth of the United States with their works and achievements, representing an unusual journey through the past and present of one nation, since the first Serb landed on American soil, more than 200 years ago, to the present day. Why Tesla Nation Tesla Nation is a symbol that’s recognised as an op- portunity to connect in order to achieve positive objec- tives. It’s a brand that’s recognised globally. Today we have an opportunity to select Nikola Tesla to be a sym- bol for the re-establishing of communication, because Tesla is a name that everyone accepts. Champions of the film, heroes of the world rough the stories of prominent Serbs, alongside Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, the film provides you with the opportunity to familiarise yourself with three- time Pulitzer Prize winner Walt Bogdanich, the only female member of the New York Academy of Scienc- es, Gordana Vunjak Novaković, the Serbian engineers who were among the creators of the Apollo space pro- gramme, legendary Oscar winners Karl Malden [Mlad- en Sekulović] and Steve Tesich, Peter Bogdanović, and many others whose names have been woven into his- tory. In this film you can hear the story of the first Serb in America, George Fisher (Đorđe Šagić), who was res- cued by the fishermen after whom he was renamed and whose name is included in Livingston’s book 100 Nota- ble Americans, but also interesting things like the fact
