Kolling Institute researchers delivered significant impact in 2025, expanding the scale, reach and influence of their research across discovery, translational and clinical domains. Their work advanced our understanding of a broad range of health conditions and diseases, while generating evidence to inform more effective models of care.
The institute’s research achievements reflect growing momentum across its programs, with increased output, stronger collaborations and a rising profile at local, national and international levels. Kolling researchers secured more than $15.4 million in competitive Category 1 research funding and a total of $16 million in joint venture philanthropic gifts in collaboration with our partners, the NORTH Foundation and the University of Sydney Advancement team.
The investment is expected to accelerate innovation, strengthen research capacity and drive meaningful improvements in health outcomes. Researchers published 474 papers in 2025, demonstrating a commitment to high quality, peer-reviewed journals, while international partnerships were strengthened with researchers collaborating on publications with investigators from over 130 countries.
Strengthening collaborations In 2025, Kolling researchers partnered with researchers across 132 countries and a total of 1,547 collaborators (excluding Australia), demonstrating a significant increase in the scale of international collaboration since 2023.
