something oensive against his idol, Paul Cézanne C ézanne said on one oc- casion: “If you were lucky enough to be born in Aix- en-Provence, you won’t need anything else”. The city is lo- cated at the very heart of Provence and is consider a haven for the soul and a paradise for art lovers. The spe- cial light of Provence guided Cézanne, who was born here and, after his ex- cursion to Paris, died here, creating his best paintings. By strolling through Aix you can share his experiences intensively, while visiting the streets, sites and land- scapes that marked the life and work of the father of modern art… Immediately tour his studio, where you will be able to see his coat still hanging from a coat stand. Here, on a hill, among his favourite renowned objects – mod- els of his nal still life, his furniture and working equipment – you will feel his complete presence most intensely. In his studio, he tirelessly captured the light through the huge windows that dom- inated the space. From 1902 until his demise in 1906, he created dozens of works here that are now preserved in major world museums, including his last work – The Bathers.
