The show, which featured a group of relatively unknown actors, went on to become a hu- ge hit that aired for 10 seasons. It also propelled the cast—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwim- mer—to varying degrees of stardom and success in Hollywood. On 6 th May 2004, more than 50 million viewers reportedly tuned in to watch the final episode of Friends, making it one of the most-watched TV fi- nales in history. A Friends reunion special, starring the original cast, premiered on HBO Max in 2021.

The festival had intended to make its debut in the September of 1939, but the outbreak of World War II forced the cancellation of the inaugural Cannes. During the 1950s, the Fe- stival International du Film de Cannes came to be regarded as the world’s most prestigious film festival, an allure it still holds to this day.
