creativity and innovation on the territory of today’s Serbia – beginning with the Neolith- ic Vinča culture, progressing through some of Serbia’s leading artists and scientists, such as Nikola Tesla, and connecting to the cur- rent era of companies, individuals and govern- ment departments that are working on crea- tive and innovative projects that will change Serbia and the world. “Shaping the Future” highlights how Serbia is today leading the world in areas such as Tech/ICT, Start-Ups & Innovation, Health & Covid-19 Manage- ment, Digital E-Government, Creative Indus- tries, Agriculture and E-Agriculture, and Dig- ital Education. Central to Serbia’s participation at the World Expo is the Serbia Pavilion, an archi- tecturally striking 2,000m2 structure located at the heart of the Expo’s Mobility District. It is a veritable “time capsule” that presents a unique dual platform for displaying Serbia’s stories – a physical pavilion in Dubai and a vir- tual/digital online pavilion – that integrates timeless and limitless content with real space. The Serbia Pavilion’s main creative focus is on the ground-breaking Neolithic Culture of Vinča, which thrived across the entire terri- tory of modern Serbia some 7,000 years ago. Vinča brought humanity its very first cities, metals, multistorey buildings, exquisite art, complex trade, clothing and jewellery man- ufacturing and methods of peaceful coexist- ence some 3,500 years before the pyramids. A melting pot of ideas and innovation, Vinča was the Expo of the Neolithic World. Just as the Vinča culture sparked many of the world’s most ground-breaking ideas, so the Serbia Pa- vilion – with a design that’s reminiscent of the pitched roof of a Neolithic Vinča dwell- ing – showcases humanity’s future, with dig- italisation, AI and virtual reality at its heart. The goal of Expo’s Mobility District is to create “connections to drive the world for- ward, breaking down the divide between the physical and digital worlds to build a harmo- nious, global society where information, ideas and goods are exchanged faster than ever be- fore.” With this in mind, Serbia’s virtual exhi- bition allows visitors to experience Serbia no matter where they may be in the world. Visi- tors can become digital humans, represented by avatars, and explore a selection of virtual exhibitions, as well as meeting and interact- ing with other avatars in real-time.
