O relle is a village with charm and tradition, with surround- ing hamlets of houses made of wood and stone anchored to the mountain, which allow you to feel all the charms of bygone times in the Alps. This village represents the gate- way to the Three Valleys, from where the“3 Vallees express”gondola lift takes visitors to Europe’s highest peaks until early May. Freshly baked bread and the aroma of French croissants accompa- ny you as you head for the perfect white slopes, where you will forget about the routine of your daily life and enjoy fresh mountain air and a genuine Alpine fairytale. With 600 kilometres of tailored slopes avail- able to skiers of all categories, with over 330 downhill pistes, almost half of which are categorised as easy while half ARE black runs, Les Trois Vallées represents an excellent choice for both professional ski- ers and those who are standing on skies for the rst time. One ski pass grants access to all the trails, and Val Thorens is a great starting point for those who love to wander the valleys. From there it’s easy to descend on skis to the lower ski resorts, so this is the right place to embark on your winter adventure. VAL THORENS Val Thorens is a state of spirit; a state of mind with attitude and al- titude. As a resort that combines the best skiing with the best atmos- phere, it is also the highest resort town in Europe – located at an el- evation of 2,300 metres. Thanks to its superb location, Val Thorens is nestled among slopes, so wherever you’re staying won’t be far from the ski runs. Thanks to extraordinary snow cover and the natural con- guration of the slopes, this is an ideal place for over 20 sporting activ- ities. There are as many as six kilometres of trails intended for sledging, a zip line across the valley, mountain-cycling in the snow, a car rally on ice, but also fun into the early hours of the morning that’s no less exciting than skiing. Après-ski fun is entrusted to La Folie Douce bar, while crazy nights can be enjoyed at Le Malaysia, the biggest dance and nightclub in the Alps, which boasts a 700-square-metre dance oor where you can dance un- til dawn to the sounds of live music, with everything from jazz to electronica... Val Thorens is specic in that almost the entire town is lled with narrow, fenced-o and snow-covered ski trails that run along- side the streets, allowing skiers to traverse the town on skis – given that the whole resort is a beautifully white pedestrian zone. This is also the rst ski resort to boast a large gondola lift able to carry more than 100 people. The name of this aerial tramway is Caron, and its uppermost sta- tion is on the peak of Cime de Caron mountain, at an elevation of about 3,200 metres, from where visitors can enjoy unforgettable views of sev- eral hundred Alpine peaks exceeding 3,000 metres. ADRENALINE ADVENTURE Nevertheless, the best experience is perhaps the zip line, which runs along a steel cable at speeds of 65 to 105 kilometres per hour and leaves you feeling like a predatory bird hovering over an endless space. With a “ight” covering as much as 1,300 metres, oering one minute and 45 seconds of pure enjoyment in breathtaking panoramic views, it sets o from the highest point of the Three Valleys, at 3,230 metres, and crosses the Val Thorens ridge, at 3,000 metres. As you glide over the mountains, you will feel completely free, unied with nature with- out disturbing it, yet you won’t feel any dizzying vertigo, despite dan- gling almost 300 metres above the ground! This unforgettable experi- ence costs €55 and is available to anyone aged from 8 to 88, though it is of course limited by weather conditions. And if you haven’t had your ll of adrenaline-fuelled adventure af- ter this, Val Thorens also oers the highest ice driving race track in Eu- rope.
