P rva Smokvica je nazvana po velikom drvetu smokve u bašti, lansirala je limuna- nu , koja je u trenutku po- stala omiljeni napitak u toplim da- nima, izgradila imidž opuštenog, a kulturnog mesta i brzo postala kul- tna bašta u centru grada u koju idete kad želite da se pobegnete od grad- ske gužve. A onda je počela da ra- ste i danas u Beogradu postoje četi- ri Smokvice , sve su različite, a opet, sve imaju isti šmek i jednako drže do specifičnog kvaliteta, koji se osla- nja na miks različitih kultura. Ulazi- te u baštu koja miriše na Mediteran, naručujete, na primer, neki libanski specijalitet, a dok čekate – džez mu- zika vas je već odnela na neko pot- puno drugo mesto…
T he first Smokvica (little fig) was named after a large fig tree lo- cated in its garden. It created the drink “limunanu” (lemonmint), which became an instant favourite on warm days, built an image as a “relaxed and cultured” place, and quickly became a cult garden in the city centre that peo- ple visit when they want to escape the ur- ban crowds. Then it started to grow as a chain and now Belgrade has four Smokvi- ca café bars, all of which are different yet have the same flavour and adhere to the same specific quality that is based on a mix of different cultures. Enter a garden that contains the scents of the Mediterra- nean, order, for example, some Lebanese speciality and, while you wait, jazz mu- sic will already have transported you to a completely different place...
