HOUSE OF MARKO MAKROVIĆ The house and bookshop of Marko Marković was built in 1904 according to a project of Jelisaveta Načić, as an academically conceived single-storey family house with a garden. Engineer Jan Švejker composed a draft in 1936 that was used to make minor alterations to the building while preserving the authentic appearance of the house maximally. With its general architectural and urban concept, as well as its location on the Danube downslope, the house represents an historical continuity of city life and the urban features of the era. It is a typical example of a building from the early 20 th century that reflects the level of material culture and civic awareness about family housing in a town house with a garden in the very centre of the city.
