One of Italy’s largest regions lies in the north, bordering Switzerland and extending from the Alps to the lowland plains of the Po Valley. Lombardy’s capital city is Milan, but the region is famous for its wild mountain belts, green hills and vineyards. Nevertheless, the charm of the great lakes is reason enough never to overlook this region of Italy
