JAN FABR U NARODNOM MUZEJU JAN FABRE AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM PRAZNIK MALIH PRIJATELJA

The National Museum in Bel- grade is hosting an exhibition of multimedia artist Jan Fabre, enti- tled Feast of Little Friends, until 5 th April. Fabre’s 2020 guest appear- ance in Belgrade has been unied through the opening of the ex- hibition at the National Museum in Belgrade, the performance of the mono-drama The Night Writ- er at the National Theatre and the publishing of a Serbian translation of Fabre’s third book, The Night Journal 1992-1993, by the Cultur- al Centre of Belgrade. The Feast of Little Friends ex- hibition at the National Museum, which is curated by Joanna De Vos, deals with topics that fasci- nated Fabre as a young visual art- ist. While studying the world of spiders and insects, he began cre- ating his own mythical universe centred around life and death, beauty and horror, fragility and violence, mortality and eternity - extremes that also hold an im- portant place in Fabre’s theatri- cal art. The Feast of Little Friends is key to understanding not only Fabre’s contemporary visual cre- ativity, but also his theatrical and literary oeuvre. Similarly to an entomologist, Fabre actually records, analyses and comments on human activ- ities and emotions through a se- ries of drawings, installations and sculptures of “fantastic insects”. With his large Spiders Heads Thea- tre with real spiders, he simulates the theatre of life, but doesn’t re- cord what he sees among his“lit- tle friends”, rather he seeks within himself images that emerge, leav- ing the same possibility for the viewer. The imagination remains the main medium. The Feast of Lit- tle Friends becomes a“feast of the senses”, while the metamorpho- sis of insects becomes a symbol of human existence.

U Narodnom muzeju u Beogradu je do 5. aprila otvorena izložba multime- dijalnog umetnika Jana Fabra Praznik malih prijatelja . Fabrovo gostovanje u Beogradu 2020. godine objedinjeno je otvaranjem izložbe u Narodnom muze- ju u Beogradu, izvođenjem monodra- me Noćni pisac u Narodnom pozorištu i objavljivanjem prevoda Fabrove treće knjige Noćni dnevnik 1992–1993. Kul- turnog centra Beograda. Slično entomologu, Fabr zapravo beleži, analizira i komentariše ljudske aktivnosti i emocije kroz seriju crteža, FEAST OF LITTLE FRIENDS

instalacija i skulptura fan- tastičnih insekata.
