W e peeked backstage at the Dolce & Gabbana show. Okay, not quite personally. Denis Jovanović, the mod- el who closed the show, conveyed his im- pressions to us. We are proud, while he is happy and excited. It is a success to partic- ipate in the shows of World Fashion Week, while closing one of them is a special hon- our. If you’ve succeeded in getting through several rounds of casting, which means that you’ve made it among the selected 250 of 3,000 models, next comes the last step – tting, at which 100 selected models re- main. Well done, Denis! And he is 24 years old, has an envia- ble world modelling career, but also a de- gree from the Faculty of Economics. Last year he strutted along the catwalks of Lon- don Fashion Week, while this year he con- quered Milan Fashion Week. He’s worked in modelling throughout Europe and Asia, and is awaited by a photo shoot for the campaign of the Dolce & Gabbana brand in June. We were, of course, interested in what that long-awaited day of the show looks like. “Stressful! You arrive seven hours be- fore the show starts, leave your clothing, get a bathrobe and the rollercoaster be- gins. Hairstyles, nails, make-up, and that’s how it goes for several rounds. The team has about 300 members. Of these, around fty are hairdressers and make-up artists, separated by importance... And each one above xes part of the make-up until you reach the main make-up artist. And then it’s really embarrassing if his idea hasn’t been respected in every detail. For more complicated designs, you have two assis- tants who help you get dressed.” It’s no mean feat to work with such a star as Domenico Dolce. However, Denis says that he’s a pure professional, but also a normal person who interacts with mod- els who are mostly scared during casting. “I performed energetically, which shocked everyone, but I think that’s why I was noticed and selected. Domenico laughed, and our communication contin- ued backstage, as he passed by he waved at me, winked and personally pulled me out of line before the parade and let me close the show. Otherwise, whatever you think about famous designers and the num- ber of assistants that help them, Domen- ico is present at every show from the be- ginning to the end. That means spending all day backstage, checking every detail, and before the show starts he stands be- hind that famous curtain from which the models emerge, making a nal check and giving the green light to take to the cat- walk. Za komplikovani- je modele imate dva asistenta, koji vam pomažu da se obučete. Nije mala stvar raditi sa takvom zvezdom kakva je Domeniko Dolče. Ipak, Denis kaže da je suvi profesio- nalac, ali i normalan čovek koji ko- municira sa modelima, koji su uglav- nom uplašeni na kastingu. – Ja sam nastupio energično, što je šokiralo sve, ali mislim da sam za- to primećen i odabran. Domeniko se nasmejao, a naša komunikacija na- stavila se i u bekstejdžu, u prolazu mi je mahao, namigivao i lično me izvukao iz reda pred defile i pustio da zatvorim reviju. Inače, šta god mi- slili o poznatim kreatorima i o bro- ju asistenata koji im pomažu, Do- meniko je prisutan od početka do kraja svake revije. To znači da ceo dan provede u bekstejdžu, provera- va svaki detalj, a pred početak revi- je stoji iza one čuvene zavese iza ko- je izlaze manekeni, obavlja finalnu proveru i daje zeleno svetlo za izla- zak na pistu. Vrlo je lako moguće da model uopšte ne bude prikazan ako nastane bilo kakav problem ili ako
kreator ne bude zadovoljan bilo ko- jim detaljem – otkriva Denis. Nalet adrenalina, dodaje, pred izlazak na scenu teško je opisati. – Nosio sam model koji je u stvari bio kostim stolara. Pomalo zbunjen i poprilično ushićen, izašao sam na pistu, zastao i podigao čekić koji je bio deo kostima. Nisu mi zamerili,
