lot of material has already been lmed, and we also screen parts of the lm at concerts, in a slightly dierent form. Through our per- formances and this documentary, we want to commemorate the band’s 50 th anniversa- ry and pay tribute to all the people who’ve been part of it throughout all periods of our career. Many don’t know that the Fossils were an all-male composition in the beginning. It was only seven years later that the rst fe- male singer, Đurđica Barlović, joined com- poser Rajko Dujmić and guitarist Vedran Zec. How would you describe your chap- ter with Novi Fosili? - When I joined the group I wasn’t quite 20 years old. Prior to that I’d been a little girl, a high school kid, just enrolled in sociology studies. I went through the school of life with Fosili, both professionally and privately. It was in the spring of 1983 that I was called to meet with Slobodan‘Moka’Momčilović and, while chatting over coee, he didn’t beat around the bush for too long. He immediately told me that Đurđica was leaving the band, be- cause of her two young sons, and suggest- ed that I take her place. He gave me until the next day to consider it. I spoke with my par- ents, who weren’t really thrilled. However, I called him the next day to say that I agreed.
T he title of the concert‘For the good old days’, along with the band’s eponymous hit song, illustrates the decades during which the No- vi Fosili – with their musical notes, dizzying- ly high record sales and numerous tours – shoneandburnedinYugoslavia, among the Diaspora and around the Balkans... It is thus no surprise that the tour, which begins in Zagreb, continues after Belgrade to Ljublja- na and Skopje. Sanja Doležal, leapt into the shoes that were worn wonderfully by Đurđica Barlović. Back then she was just a little girl, while today - at the age of 56 - she feels the joy of sing- ing and the audience like she did on the rst day. She also feels joy from her children, her dog, the peace she’s achieved and the home she has in her own little paradise on Croatia’s River Mrežnica near Karlovac. What was it like in the good old days
Turneja koja počinje u Zagrebu posle Beograda dalje ide u Ljubljanu i Skoplje The tour, which begins in Zagreb, continues after Belgrade to Ljubljana and Skopje
for the New Fossils? - When one mentions the 50th anniver- sary of the band, it seems to me like a really long time. Although I haven’t been with the band for 50 years, but rather 36, it seems to me that the years have own by. It sounds like a lot, and when you look around your- self you wonder where it all went so fast. The band didn’t disband ve years ago, when we last performed in Belgrade on the occasion of the 45th anniversary. We occasionally per- form throughout the region. We just aren’t mentionedinthemedia, becausetodaysome other rules apply for front pages. We were never a band of scandals or nudity. How are you commemorating the six decades of the band’s work? - We’ve been lming a documentary about the group since spring. We put togeth- er a super team led by wonderful director Pe- tra Radin, and she grew up with the Fosili. A
