n recovering from the unrest of the Balkans, Belgrade has become a complete- ly modern city with numerous fantastic features that set it apart from other Eu- ropean cities. This is how the UK’s The Sun newspaper recently described Belgrade, and it isn’t the only one – magazines around the world have praised the Serbian capital in re- cent months and recommended it to readers as an attractive destination. And indeed - Belgrade looks different today than it did just a few years ago and, according to Mayor Siniša Mali, it will look even more different in the future. Here, for Elevate’s readers, May- or Mali presents 10 projects that will change the face of the city. I

1. CONSTRUCTION OF THE METRO This is a project that’s been talked about for decades, but which nobody has been able to implement. Just as we built the Belgrade Waterfront, so we will also build a metro, and construction of the first line will begin in 2020. It will be 22.5 km long and will start at Makiš field and end at Ada Huja. We will integrate the metro into the Belgrade train system (BG voz) and take advantage of its infrastructure, such that the first two metro lines and four planned BG voz lines will link the entire city. 2. BUS STATION The new bus station will be located in New Belgrade’s Blok 42. The completed sta- tion should start operating two years after the launch of construction. This building will be completely modern and equipped to the lat- est standards. 3. GONDOLA The Belgrade Fortress of Kalemegdan and Ušće Park will be connected by a gon- dola cable car lift, the construction of which is expected to start by the middle of this year. Once built, the gondola lift will accommodate between 10 and 35 passengers, while the trip from one bank of the Sava to the other will Belgrade needs a new children’s hospital and one will be built. 7. NOVI SAVSKI MOST I MOST PREKO ADE HUJE Stari savski most ćemo preme- stiti na novu lokaciju, a na njego- vom mestu izgradićemo novi most. Novi most na Dunavu, kod Ade Hu- je, neophodan je kako bi se Pupi- nov most između Zemuna i Borče spojio sa Zrenjaninskim i Pančevač- kim putem. 8. INDUSTRIJSKI PARK U BORČI Kod Pupinovog mosta, na neko- liko stotina hektara, biće izgrađen ki- nesko-srpski industrijski park, koji će našem gradu doneti na hiljade novih radnih mesta. To će biti najveći indu- strijski park u ovom delu Evrope. 9.
