NESTVARNA GAUDIJEVA BARSELONA THE UNREAL BARCELONA OF GAUDÍ
A ntonio Gaudi, čudesni španski arhitekta, dao je pečat svo- joj Barseloni. Pečat koji decenijama posle njegove smr- ti dovodi milione turista u njegov grad, u kojem ne znaju če- mu pre da se dive – njegovoj katedrali, parku Guelj, kazama Mila ili Batlo... Proći će 100 godina od Gaudijeve smrti, a njegovo remek-de- lo, ono kojem je posvetio pola svog života, biće konačno završe- no. Katedrala Sagrada familia (Sveta porodica) biće gotova 2026. godine. Antonio Gaudi je crkvu počeo da gradi 1883, u 31. godini. Dugo je bio optimističan u pogledu izvesnosti završetka projek- ta. Međutim, finansijska kriza i ratovi znatno su usporili radove. A ntonio Gaudí, the wonderful Spanish architect, gave his stamp to his own Barcelona. Decades after his death, that stamp still brings mil- lions of tourists to his city, where they don’t know what to marvel at rst – his cathedral, Güell Park, casa Milá or casa Batlló... The centenary of the death of Gaudí will pass, and his masterpiece – the one that he dedicated half of his life to – will nally be completed. The Ba- silica i Temple de la Sagrada Familia (Basilica and Exiatory Church of the Holy Family) will be completed in 2026. Gaudí began building this church in 1883, at the age of 31. He maintained his optimism about the certain- ty that the project would be completed. However, nancial crises and wars slowed the work signi cantly. In his old age, he abandoned all world- ly works and devoted himself fully to his faith and the construction of the church. In the last 12 years of his life, he even made a small studio for

Every de- tail of this temple of the Holy Family exudes Christian symbolism, because Gaudí’s in- tention was for this church to represent“the last great sanctuary of Christianity”. This architect didn’t manage to complete his great temple. He was hit by a tram on 12 th June 1926. The whole of Barcelona sent him on his way and paid their nal respects. The government ordered that he be buried in the crypt of his own church, where he rests alongside the masterpiece of his life.
