ŽENEVSKO JEZERO Ženevsko jezero, najveće alpsko jezero, proteže se švajcar- sko-francuskom granicom, a zapljuskuje obale nekih od naj- popularnijih gradova Švajcarske. Grad Ženeva nalazi se iz- među snegom prekrivenih vrhova i mesta gde se Rona izliva u jezero. LAKE GENEVA Lake Geneva, Europe’s largest alpine lake, extends from the Swiss-French border and has along its shores some of Switzer- land’s most popular cities. The city of Geneva is located between snow-covered peaks and the spot where the River Rhône empties into the lake. This “city of peace” that speaks French is the Europe- an Headquarters of the United Nations and exudes a pleasant fu- sion of French Joie de Vivre and Swiss structure. Walkways, parks and gardens surround the lake, while the old town is a beautiful area for strolling among historic buildings. Also on the lake, about 62 kilometres from Geneva, Lausanne of- fers wonderful views of the surrounding region and the Alps in the distance. Stroll around the medieval old town with its cute cafes and boutiques, and stunning Gothic cathedral. In the foot- hills of the Alps, on Lake Geneva, Montreux is home to a world-fa- mous jazz festival.

CHATEAU DE CHILLON On the shore of Lake Geneva, in the vicinity of Montreux, the fa- mous Chillon Castle has for centuries inspired artists and writers. Lord Byron, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Victor Hugo are among the greats who’ve written about this architectural treasure. Once a for- tress of the counts and dukes of Savoy dating back to the 12 th cen- tury, the complex consists of around 25 buildings, with agrarian sights including the Great Hall, with a magni cent view of Lake Ge- neva, Gothic underground rooms, a chapel adorned with 14 th centu- ry paintings; and the bedroom of the duke of Savoy, decorated with medieval murals. ŠATO DE ŠILON Na obali Ženevskog jezera, u blizini Montroa, čuveni Šato de Ši- lon vekovima je inspirisao umetnike i pisce. Lord Bajron, Žan Žak Ruso i Viktor Igo spadaju među velikane koji su pisali o tom arhitektonskom blagu.
