RITAM ZEMLJE RHYTHM OF THE COUNTRY
Fairy tale nature, good hosts, hiking trails and ski lanes for both you and your kids, a great time with live mu- sic on New Year’s Eve – all this is offered by this beauty of Western Serbia. New Year’s holidays also provide a great opportunity to enjoy the view from the famous Banjska Rock, as well as to tour Zaovin Lake. Located along the border with Bosnia-Herzegovina, this mountain is the only natural habitat of Pančić’s Serbian spruce. Don’t be surprised on your hike if you encounter wild goats and dwarf eagles, and you should know that there are also brown bears here. Tara hides in its forests and canyons traces of prehistoric, ancient, Roman and Byzantine cul- tures, while Rača Monastery and the necropolis of steć- ci in Perućac and Rastište form part of Serbia’s medie- val heritage. Dinaric log cabins alongside the banks of the Drina represent a unique folk artform. And while you’re already in the area, be sure to visit the famous Drvengrad on Mećavnik or the nearby Višegrad and An- drićgrad.
