Perhaps someone will tell you that Dalston or Hackney have taken over all the hipness of East London, but you must find time to lose yourself in Shoreditch. This part of the city abounds with street art, late night bars, blues dens, fabulous restaurants, vintage shops and exhibitions that turn into epic after parties… L ondon is a city where one Strahinja and one An- ja could have meet countless times. But they didn’t. They met two years ago on Lake Zaovin , a year later they met a dachshund called Šn- jur, launched a blog called Whatifness, moved to live in a van and headed out to tour the world. Temporary address: London. “The universe has always had refinement for dra- matic composition. For years we went to the same café, in the same London neighbourhood, and washed down the same lemon cake with cappuccino, yet our paths never crossed, neither lengthwise nor crosswise. Now that same universe brought us together by placing us in the confines of five square metres with the villainous Šnjur,” says Strahinja, explaining why they chose Lon- don in particular as their temporary home. They say that the traditional cooked breakfast is good for the English, but advise that you still choose a sandwich for your first meal of the day. “The hottest sandwich alive. If someone finds a better hot sandwich, I will give them the deeds to my house”. This gastronomic treasure is to be found at the wonderful Borough Market, which is located next to London Bridge. Don’t kneel before the million and one stalls that emanate with the irresistible scents of del- icacies from all over the world, and head to the cor- ner of the market, to the place called the Kappacasein Dairy. If you are thrilled by the thought of several types of home made cheese, professionally melted direct- ly onto your toast and subtly spiced with fresh onion, be prepared for hardcore gastro-eroticism! And while you’re already on the Borough Market, you simply must round off the experience with a spectacular brownie and latte at the Monmouth Coffee Company, located just twenty metres away. The calories amassed from heavy meals are most often burned by wandering through the city. “Wandering the streets of London is the best free recreation and the most beneficial cardio. Don’t rush for some monumental sights, rather head in your new vintage dress, with a coffee in one hand and a repetitive camera in the other, to one of London’s classic districts - Notting Hill. Prepare yourself for the explosion of col- ours on Lancaster Road, then continue your wandering around Portobello Road and complete your stroll with a sloe gin in your hand at The Serpentine in Hyde Park. In the evenings we prefer to stroll beside the Thames, from Chiswick to Hammersmith, around the Barbican, from Tower Bridge to the Tate Modern,” says Anja. London is known as the city with the world’s larg- est and certainly most beautiful collection of street art, and its streets represent a gallery of the contro- versial Banksy.
