re dve godine avion pod slavnim imenom Nikola Tesla doče- kan je na njujorškom aerodromu vodenim topovima u znak dobrodošlice, čime je Er Srbija vratila dugolinijski saobraćaj u na- šu avijaciju. Tog 23. juna 2016. godine, tačno u osam sati i osam minuta, ka- petan je podigao u vazduh nad Beogradom erbas A330. Leteći gi- gant sa više od 250 putnika sleteo je posle devet i po sati na Aero- drom Džon Ficdžerald Kenedi (JFK), čime je i zvanično otvorena direktna linija Beograd–Njujork posle gotovo četvrt veka. Let pod oznakom JU 500 dočekan je na njujorškom aerodromu vodenim topovima u znak dobrodošlice, a pozdravio ga je i elektron- ski bilbord na kojem je pisalo: „JFK aerodrom pozdravlja Er Srbiju “. Od tada do danas Er Srbija je postala i ostala jedina avio-kompa- nija u jugoistočnoj Evropi koja nudi transatlantske letove za SAD, prevozeći desetine hiljada zadovoljnih putnika, kojima više ni ro- đaci ni prijatelji nisu daleko u dalekoj Americi. Avion koji je ušao u istoriju leteći ka ovoj destinaciji prvi je ši- rokotrupni avion za redovni interkontinentalni saobraćaj između Balkana i SAD, najveći u floti Er Srbije sa 254 mesta – 236 u eko- nomskoj i 18 u biznis-klasi. This flying giant, with more than 250 pas- sengers, landed after nine and a half hours at JFK Airport, thereby offi- cially marking the opening of a direct line from Belgrade to New York after a break of nearly a quarter of a century. The plane with the flight code JU 500 was received at this New York air- port with water cannons as a welcome gesture, while it was also greet- ed with an electronic billboard that read“JFK Airport welcomes Air Ser- bia”. From then until today, Air Serbia has become and remained the only airline from Southeast Europe to offer direct transatlantic flights to the U.S., carrying tens of thousands of satisfied guests for whom rela- tives and friends are no longer distant in distant America. The plane that entered into history by flying to this destination is the first wide-bodied aircraft for regular intercontinental traffic between the Balkans and the U.S., as well as being the largest plane in the Air Serbia fleet, with 254 seats – 236 in economy class and 18 in business
