A ko smo mi da mu ne veru- jemo. Montenegro, perhaps only two or three times a year, and that’s mostly in August, when the waves reach a height of three or four metres, making it risky to swim, explains Jelušić. Of bathing spots that sign contracts on leas- ing space with Morsko dobro, and thus accept ob- ligations to satisfy certain standards, there are 30 beaches that have the privilege of sporting a blue flag. This flag represents the highest international standards of quality and safety on beaches, award- ed by international experts. These experts usually turn up incognito at bathing spots and check the level of service and safety, the degree of ecological consciousness, and a total of 27 items that must sat- isfy standards in order for a blue flag to be award- ed. However, even then these criteria must be ful- filled for two consecutive years, only for the flag to be unfurled for the third year. - We are very proud of the fact that there were only one or two flags fifteen years ago, while today there are 30 of them. We have shown that we can satisfy these standards, because the fact that along our 320 kilometres of coastlines there are as many as 30 beaches with blue flags is a great success. To conclude, we jokingly ask him which of his children he loves the most. Although all of the beach- es are his, or more precisely belong to the public com- pany he heads, the director can still make a choice. So, he says that in the Bay of Kotor, which has “dra- matic beauty”, he likes the Fishermen’s Village and Alamra, while in Budva that’s the wild beach on St. Nikola island, which locals refer to as‘Pod murvom’ (Under mulberry). Apart from those, Jelušić says, that which only Montenegro has on the Mediterranean is certainly the 12km-long Long Beach of Ulcinj, which makes it worth coming to this part of the world. - There is offered an endless view along the beach that is reminiscent of Africa. Where the wind starts blowing every day at noon, much to the happi- ness of all lovers of sports. In the evenings everything relaxes with a glass of good wine. This is really a very beautiful place. And who are we to not believe him? Next stop – Ulcinj...
