U Londonu živi mnogo ljudi različitih kultura, rasa, religija… I svi oni mu se prilagođavaju tako da svako nađe svoj prostor

London is home to a large number of people of different cultures, races, religions ... and they all adapt to it by finding their own place for themselves

P rvi put sam se s Londo- nom srela sa 12 godina. Do tada sam poznavala samo ruralni deo Engle- ske, u kojem je živela moja mnogo- brojna familija. Iz tog perioda se- ćam se predivnog Prirodnjačkog muzeja, londonskog zoološkog vr- ta, Hajd parka, Bakingemske pa- late, Ridžent parka, Opservatori- je, Katedrale Svetog Pavla i njene vrhunske akustike. Sećam se još i fenomenalnih prodavnica ploča koje je moj otac obožavao, pa ta- da tek otvorenog Barbikan centra . Sećam se i jedne fantastične izlož- be muzičkih skulptura, koja je pot- puno promenila moju percepciju umetnosti. Kao malo starija tinej- džerka zaljubljena u rok muziku, zapamtila sam i nesagledive redo- ve ispred Marquee kluba u Toten- hem Kort Roudu. Bio je to legen-

I was first introduced to London at the age of 12. Until then I’d only known the rural part of England, where my large family lived. From that period I remember the beautiful Natural History Museum, London Zoo, Hyde Park, Buck- ingham Palace, Regent’s Park, the Obser- vatory, St. Paul’s Cathedral and its superb acoustics. I also remember a phenome- nal record shop that my father adored, and the then recently-opened Barbican Centre. I also remember a fantastic ex- hibition of musical sculpture that com- pletely changed my perception of art. As a slightly older teenager, in love with rock music, I remember the immense queues in front of the Marquee Club in Totten- ham Court Road. That was a legendary rock club where lesser known bands per- formed, but also international stars. I also remember London for the peri- od of punk and goth culture. Many young people walked the streets in clothes that
