I remember how much of an impression all of that left on me about London, a city that permits this kind of freedom of expression for all who live there. London today is a great business me- tropolis and that has changed it a lot. It has adopted the colours and brands of other cities, but it still jealousy protects its main features and invests in them a lot. That is perhaps the biggest differ- ence between us and the British. They invest in the preservation of history, the preservation of identity. They don’t ac- cept any major change lightly, but they try to keep up with the times, investing in talented people and trying to ensure the best conditions for their development. In terms of mentality, they are a lot more re- served than we are; they are not as out- spoken, but are still very honest and di- rect. A person can rely on them. Their word carries serious weight, so much so that until some time ago business contracts
could be concluded by way of a given word. That says a lot about the society and the values it defends. London is fast city that is home to a large number of people of different cultures, races, religions ... and they all adapt to it by finding their own place for themselves. It would be good to make a plan for your tour before arriving in London. The city is huge and has a lot that you should see. It’s always a good idea to find a good guide, because London has many faces. Public transport in the city is very well organised, with the large network of fa- mous double-decker buses representing a great way to tour the city without a guide. My favourite places are Hampstead Heath, Hampstead High Street, Regent’s Park, Hyde Park, Hoxton Square in the eastern part and Brick Lane Market, and I also like to sit beside the Thames, where some extremely exciting institutions are located – the Tate Modern, the Nation- al Theatre, the British Film Institute etc. There are also Camden Road and mar-
