Ta venčanica dugo je bila najkopiranija haljina te vrste Prince Charles and Lady Di were wed on 24 th February 1981. Her wedding dress is probably the apotheosis of early ‘80s fashion. Interestingly, this wedding gown was the most copied dress of its type for a long time 1981.
according to protocol, she was required to wear only products of British design- ers, and concentrate on the second part of her public life, we cannot help but ad- mire the way she so quickly realised that excessiveness least suited her, and how she realised that prudence and her choice of bold but tastefully accentuated creations was her strongest weapon. Moreover, it is also a fascinating fact that Princess Diana realised very early on that she could use fashion to articulate her inner state. Realising that the sensi- tive position she occupied in British soci- ety meant that she must measure every word, she chose to use her very appear- ance to articulate that which she dare not say. And she did so masterfully. There is an entire array of evening gowns and cocktail dresses in which the princess shone, and which are still talked about and remembered today. I will first single out the red evening dress made of silk crepe, with simple and
wise silhouettes, which had a deep neck- line at the back. On one occasion she wore it with a long string of pearls, which were also visible on the back. There is also, of course, the famous “Travolta” dress that she wore during a visit to the White House and in which she shone on the dance floor with John Travolta. In contrast to the afore- mentioned red dress, here Diana is much younger, still a young princess, uncertain of herself... However, her bold choice of neckline combined with obligatory items of jewellery make her the image and ex- ample of a princess for all time. For me, perhaps her most impressive combination was when she combined a simple sleeveless blouse with cotton trou- sers. That was how she dressed when visit- ing one of the humanitarian organisations that she had dedicated herself to helping. The pleated shimmering gown, de- signed by Bruce Oldfield, best illustrates the first phase of her life under the mer- ciless eye of the public. Many of her out- fits were dictated by strict protocol. On the other hand, Diana resolved her natu- ral shyness by placing an emphasis on her athletic figure and stunning legs. Howev- er, her natural blushes are probably the reason she forever remains synonymous with the English rose. She was capable of polishing her ap- pearances and converting her private sit- uation, which was by no means easy, in- to something worthy of admiration. She even managed to emerge from her failed marriage as a sophisticated woman with a positive attitude and sense. There are few women who would have survived such a personal situation and emerged from all of that with her head held high. She forever changed the image of abandoned women.
