Prvi film koji su snimili

Na premijeri „Bele vrane“ odr- žali ste vrlo dirljiv govor zahval- nosti ocu. – Film Bela vrana (o bekstvu Rudo- lfa Nurejeva iz SSSR) za mene je jed- nim delom bio vrlo ličan, pošto je i moj otac bio disident i žrtvovao je mno- go toga. Odmalena sam gledala koli- ko mu je bilo teško, kako se nosio sa krivicom što je napustio svoju majku. Veoma sam osetljiva na tu temu i ovaj film me je podsetio na oca. Kada ste shvatli da je film vaš poziv? – Još od detinjstva volim filmove. Deka po majci je bio producent, u 22. godini je postao jedan od šefova pro- dukcije u studiju Univerzal. Moja maj- ka je bila pravo dete Holivuda, ali ni- sam nikada shvatala zdravo za gotovo da je to ono čime ću se i ja baviti. Stu- dirala sam filozofiju i književnost i go- tovo da sam stigla do magistarskog rada iz filozofije, ali sam onda shva- tila da želim da radim. Jedan od pr- vih poslova mi je bio na filmu koji je režirala supruga Bernarda Bertoluči- ja. Bila sam asistentkinja scenografa. Pošto sam se lako snalazila po Evro- pi, mnogim Amerikancima sam bila lična asistentkinja. Od sredine osam- desetih sam 15 godina živela u Parizu. Po čemu se razlikuje snimanje u Evropi i SAD? – Sve je totalno drugačije. Ja sam tu da apsolutno podržim svog autora. Holivudski studijski sistem je čudan. Ne znam da li bih ikad mogla da bu- dem deo toga. Verujem u viziju, u pripo- vedanje, i tu sam da pomognem da se priča ispriča, a ne da namećem nešto. Kada ste odlučili da snimate fil- move u Srbiji? – Radila sam na nekim filmovima u Jugoslaviji koje je otac producirao, poput Tajne manastirske rakije Slobo- dana Šijana, u Zagrebu sam pre toga radila na jednoj američkoj mini-seriji, prvi put sam bila u Kanu sa 16 godi- na, kada je u takmičarskom programu bio Poseban tretman , a Milena Dravić dobila nagradu, potom sam Goranu Paskaljeviću pomagala da snimi Tu- đu Ameriku . Emotivno sam vezana za ove prostore, ali sam uvek verovala i da ovde mogu da nastanu dobri filmovi. Međutim, Rejf Fajns je osoba koja me je Koriolanom vratila u Srbiju. Niste vi doveli njega, već on vas? – Baš tako. Bio je to vrlo čudan splet okolnosti. Upravo smo završili snimanje Vojvotkinje . Rejf se spremao da snima Koriolana i na jednoj večeri sa mnom i mojim bivšim suprugom pričao je da

D obrivoje Tanasijević, better known as Dan Tana, is the only other father, along with Francis Ford Coppola, whose daughter is also a member of the American Acad- emy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He is a lm producer, former professional footballer, actor and owner of one of Hol- lywood’s most famous restaurants, and his daughter is Gabrielle Tana, a successful pro- ducer in her own right. She’s worked on lms including The Duchess, Philomena, The Invisible Woman, Stan & Ollie and Co- riolanus, who were nominated for a total of six Oscars and won one, while she was also nominated for the Award of the Asso- ciation of American Producers for the doc- umentary Dancer, about Sergei Polunin. She was recently a guest of Belgrade for the premiere of the lm The White Crow, directed by Ralph Fiennes, while she’s al- so working on the lm Minamata, which Johnny Depp has been shooting in Bel- grade, and preparing to embark on a new endeavour with the lm The Dig, with Ralph Fiennes and Nicole Kidman. We caught up with this extremely pleas-

ant lady, who has the power and will of steel, attheYugoslavFilmArchivesCinematheque during her short stay in Belgrade, where we discussed the secrets of a good lm, the complexity of a producer’s job, Fiennes and Depp, but also her father. What does life with Dan Tana look like from his daughter’s perspective? - He is a fascinating, inspirational per- son,“larger than life”, with inexhaustible en- ergy. It was a privilege to grow up beside him. We were never bored. It was exciting, and sometimes scary, because he includ- ed us in everything. We went with him to lm shoots and grew up in the restaurant. We later moved to England. He said it was because of school, but I’m convinced that it was because of football [laughs]. When my sister and I were little, he would tell us about his childhood and how he arrived in America. That planted in us a strong work ethic and good values. He is a man of by- gone times, European ethics. My mother is an American, a painter. They were married until I was 22. She is also a person with a very colourful personality. I had two very unusual parents who are strong characters.
