Piter Gebrijel mu je dao prvu priliku da ga ljudi vide i čuju širom sveta. Za Stinga kaže da je divan čovek i džentlmen, sa kojim je veoma blizak. Ali legendarni bubnjar u Beograd dolazi da svira sa još jednim velikim umetnikom – Matijom Dedićem, sa kojim će 14. aprila održati koncert u klubu „Bitefartcafe“ Peter Gabriel gave him his rst opportunity to be seen and heard by people around the world. He says that Sting is a wonderful person and a gentleman with whom he is very close. But this legendary drummer is coming to Belgrade to perform with another great artist – Matija Dedić, with whom he will hold a concert at the Bitefartcafe club on 14 th April.
remember this experience? - Of course I remember. It was an amaz- ing moment and plus I discovered a great person and kept friendly relations with Miša, as I said in answering the rst question. I am so happy to be back! I had some back prob- lems then and wasn’t really crazy about do- ing that tour in the rst place. I think we rst played in Novi Sad, then a concert hall in Belgrade at the end, Bitefartcafe club. Miša and his team sent me to a spa, where I had a massage and went in a sauna, and after that I felt like a new man, ready for everything. The team was so dedicated to making this hap- pen and to making it as cosy as possible for us while in Serbia that we simply clicked and everything went in this positive direction. You also performed in Belgrade with Peter Gabriel in 2013. Could you tell us about Peter? - This artist is a wonderful human being. He gave me my rst opportunity to be seen around the world, which is why I also have strong respect for him. Working with him was always very nice, but you have to know that Peter is always looking for new things, or at least trying things dierently, which means that when you’re in studio working, it could take weeks before you track anything, so you better be patient, really creative and able to provide ideas too, and to change your mind in a second to be able to deliver. You have played with great artists like Sting? - Sting came right after the rst collab- oration with Peter. He is a sweet man and a gentleman, we are still very close. Even if we don’t work together, we like to meet up, either when he comes to France or if I go abroad where he will be. Working with him was dierent from Peter. He knows ex-
M anu Katché, a famous Afri- can-American showman, pop-rock musician, compos- er and jazz artist, began his ca- reer as Peter Gabriel’s drummer, then contin- uedworkingwiththelikesofTracyChapman, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Dire Straits etc. It was while collaborating with Gibonni in 2001 that he performed in this part of Europe for the rst time, but now you’ll have a chance to enjoy his performance in a completely dif- ferent atmosphere, as he will be perform- ing alongside one of Croatia’s most famous jazz pianists, Matija Dedić. They’ll perform at a Musicology Barcae Session set to take place on 14 th April in Belgrade’s Bitefartcafe club, a day after performing at the Zagreb Students’ Centre. How come you’’re performing with Matija? - We came into contact through a very good friend, Miša Reli ć , who I met 14 years ago. Anyway, we started playing togeth-
er over the tracks he sent me before and it went amazing! We connected really good, and I think the result is perfect. Concerts in Belgrade and Zagreb will show whether or not I’m right. You’ve been known for a long time as one of the most famous drummers in the world. What changed during the years? - I had the privilege and luck to be part of the golden age of the music industry, mean- ing that times have changed and the artists with whom I’ve collaborated are getting old. The music model is dierent nowadays, and I guess the old world of making albums with dierent musicians from dierent cultures and then going on tour for a couple of years is over! The new artists coming up are more into self-production and very often do tours with very few musicians. I’m not saying that is a bad thing, but it is dierent. You performed at Bitefartcafe club in December 2005, 14 years ago. Do you
