I dreamt from an early age of marrying at the Hôtel du Cap- Eden-Roc in Antibes, which as a little girl seemed to me to resemble a fairy-tale castle. And my dream came true,” we’re told by fashion blogger Anja Valente (27), whose parents – Snežana and Dragan‘Piksi’Stojković – tied the knot 30 years ear- lier near Antibes, in the famous Cannes, and who leads us on this tour of the French Riviera, the Côte d’Azur. Anja’s birthplace was determined by the sporting career of her father, the famous Serbian footballer who played for the Olym- pique de Marseille in the 1990s, and it was on the Côte d’Azur, the French Riviera, that she fell in love while holidaying with her family. The coast and its tourist hubs – Saint-Tropez, Cannes, Mo- naco, Menton, Nice and Antibes – have so much to oer, and the last resort, which holds an important place in Anja’s biography, is the best stop en route to Nice, located 20 kilometres away. “The old part resembles a labyrinth surrounded by 16th-cen- tury ramparts. It is there that the best Nice salad is served and it’s quite a tranquil place. Nearby is the Picasso Museum, and as the artist himself said, “If you want to see Picasso from An-

They come to this small resort town 12 kilo- metres away precisely be- cause of the‘Cap-Eden-Roc’, which is one of the world’s most famous hotels. “Perfect gardens facing the Mediterranean, high ceil- ings, original oils on canvas, delicate mahogany tables, books on shelves that you want to read, a swimming pool carved out of rock, a 300-metre lane extending from the main building to the seafront, and the place where I wanted to marry... It’s dicult to single out one detail, because every one is fairy-tale-like,”says Anja, re- vealing why she decided to celebrate her important day

Kennedy, who was himself a guest there, as were the likes of Ernest Heming- way, Marlene Dietrich and Orson Welles, but no previous visit could compare to the wedding, which was staged in April 2018. “When I’m there and lying beside the pool with a cocktail in my hand, I feel like part of Slim Aarons’ famous Hôtel du Cap- Eden-Roc photograph. And the culinary specialities are a story in their own right... The rooms are named after famous people who stayed in them, so there’s the George Clooney Villa, Madon- na Suite and Leonard DiCaprio Room that overlooks the Medi- terranean.
