– my hobby, something that only I understand, and which on- ly has value for me, suddenly gained value among the general public – recalls Vuk. His fascination with the festive atmosphere hasn’t changed, but has grown over the years, developed, become more creative and charming. A child’s enthusiasm has turned into a true art from. - The whole story about the most beautifully decorated house in Belgrade has now been going for a long time. A lot has changed, but I’ve always strove to ensure the entire decoration has mean- ing, is not overly aggressive, doesn’t have too many colours, and that I add something new every year – says Vuk. And when he no longer had anything left to add, he be- gan coming up with his own ornaments that he would make by hand. It began with several stars made from wire, while and to- day there are serious decorative elements that are raised up to two metres above the height of the house’s roof of his house. - I made my own mounting and demounting carrying struc- ture, which has a different shape each year, formed on the ba- sis of my inspirational sketches. Frankly, that is the biggest chal- lenge. It must happen at the moment of inspiration, when, all of a sudden, I imagine in front of me a new decoration for the up- coming season and note it down on paper. This sketch then lat- er turns into detailed designs and measures, then I buy materi- als and make all the elements by hand. He has been assisted for years by his friends, his parents, who prepare coffee and hot brandy, and his colleagues... His team grows every year, and on the eve of 2018 Vuk has announced a special feature – the musical synchronisation of the whole display. - I saw it a long time ago in footage of holiday enthusiasts from America and I wanted to show something similar to every- one who comes to share my joy. And that will finally happen in our country for the first time this year! And it will happen on the ceremonious night when the lights are switched on, which has become an event in its own right. Af- ter his arduous work installing the decorations, Vuk can hardly wait for the moment when his work will shine with its full force, and nor can the hundreds of Belgraders who enjoy his fairy-tale scenes and the festive atmosphere. - Some say it’s a big crowd, but I say it looks spectacular. And it started spontaneously, when I invited my family to see what the decorations look like, more than 10 years ago. The next year they were joined by their neighbours, then their classmates, one year the members of the choir in which I sang at the time came, the next year the band members... It grew ever bigger and more fun. It is now a serious event attended by hundreds of citizens and media representatives. The programme includes the par- ticipation of dozens of artists, with sweets handed out to chil- dren, while a countdown and fireworks result in all the light be- ing turned on with a single button. - For three years there have also been the obligatory perfor- mances of the Merry Gospel Choir, in which I also sing, with its Christmas programme. I am proud that our house is today synon- ymous with the festive atmosphere in Belgrade, that children be- lieve Father Christmas lives there and that a completely ordinary house has become extremely unusual, unique and, as many say, a “magical fairy tale house”. I live that fairy tale, believe in it and, with a lot of enthusiasm, turn it into a reality every year – says Vuk. So, even if you do not believe in Father Christmas, even if New Year’s Eve is like every other evening for you, you can’t be left feeling indifferent to Vuk’s energy.

u Srbiji bez ajvara, sarme, ruske salate i nečeg slatkog, na primer Vasine torte. Bez tih divnih jela koja nam decenijama pružaju utehu, donose radost i pomažu da začinimo sive, hladne dane
