Za početak, na trgu ispred Gradske kuće, Bečlije i goste iz čitavog sveta već čeka smreka visoka 25 metara i stara oko 100 godina, dar pokrajine Forarlberg. Bečka Novogodišnja staza , više od četvrt veka jedan od naj- većih novogodišnjih programa u Evropi, poslednjeg dana u go- dini počinje muzičkim i zabavnim programom na 11 bina već od 14 časova, pa ko šta voli... Biće svih žanrova, od latina, soula, fanka, rokenrola do muzike za decu. A za sve u ponoć zna se – tradicionalni valcer uz čuveni poziv na ples „Ales valcer“. Za početnike nema zime, poznate bečke plesne škole organizuju besplatne kurseve valcera od 14 časova na Trgu Graben. I neće samo čulo sluha uživati. Ove godine u gradu biće postavljeno čak 20 božićnih va- šara sa 982 štanda. Mnogobrojni gastronomi najavljuju mno- go punča, šampanjca, gulaša, kobasica, krofni, carskih mrvica... Is there a more authentic place on the globe where you can dance a waltz with your loved one, precisely at midnight between 31 st December and 1 st January, than Vienna? F irst it is close to us, then it offers its own kind of atmospheric sym- phony for all the senses, then the thousands of visitors who come to Vienna during the winter holidays will have the feeling that they have been at least a small part of the immense history of this city. And Vienna will offer them a genuine festive feast – awaiting mid- night in the city centre, a boat ride along the Danube, celebrations in lux- ury hotels ... and much more. To begin with, on the square in front of the City Hall, Viennese folk and guests from all over the world are awaited by a 25-metre-tall spruce tree that’s around a century old – a gift of the Vorarlberg region. Vienna’s New Year’s Eve celebrations, representing one of Europe’s biggest New Year’s programmes for more than a quarter of a century, starts with a music and entertainment programme on 11 different stag- es from 2 pm on the last day of the year, so whatever you like... all gen- res will be covered – from Latin to soul, funk and rock to children’s mu- sic. And the dance for all at midnight is well known – a traditional waltz with the famous call to dance, Alles walzer. For beginners there’s no win- ter, famous Viennese dance schools organise free waltzing courses from 2pm on Graben Square. And there won’t only be enjoyment for your sense of hearing. All metro lines will run at 7.5-minute intervals until 3 am on 1 st January 2018, while many daily tram and bus lines will operate together with night lines. After a turbulent New Year’s Eve, Vienna’s square in front of city hall awaits you on 1 st January with a breakfast to cure hangovers, naturally alongside the unavoidable and unfor- gettable direct broadcast of the Vienna Philharmonic’s fa- mous New Year’s concert.
