Vuk first painted his native city of Panče- vo ten years ago. Then, three years ago, he painted Belgrade and felt the start of a spe- cial artistic journey and exploration. - Painting a city is preceded by a pro- cess of learning about the city itself, col- lecting a base of information, photographs, everything that will help me in the paint- ing process. I then process that through my artistic processor in my head and inspira- tion, on the basis of everything I’ve seen and heard, but also on the basis of some subconscious information that I’ve forgot- ten that I know. By painting cities, I actual- ly learn. I discovered a lot about Belgrade, even though I thought I already knew it. The real challenge was Chicago, because I painted it just with the help of online re- search and tourist maps. And in that actu- al painting process I really fell in love with Chicago, and the painting turned out great - explains Vuk, whose Chicago picture ac- tually won him the first prize of the Niš Art Foundation at the contest‘Youth 2017 – this
