Radnja stripa i počinje zapra- vo saradnjom sa ser Džeraldom Ta- rantom, a sve činjenice o njenom ži- votu odmah posle rata saznajemo u flešbeku. Modesti u velikom izdanju i tvrdokoričena u punih 12 knjiga.

The story of the comic strips actu- ally begins with cooperation with Sir Ger- ald Tarrant, while we discover all the facts about her life immediately after the war via flashback scenes. The most credit for the emergence and appearance of Modesty belongs to write O’Donnell, but also the first illustrator, Jim Holdaway.ShedebutedinUKnewspaperThe Evening Standard on 13 th May 1963, while a total of 96 comic strip stories were pub- lished. O’Donnell forbid all potential contin- uations of the story in his last will and tes- tament, so Modesty won’t be experiencing any new adventures, at least not in comic strip form. Interestingly, she has always also proven inspirational to filmmakers, so there have been three less successful screen adap- tations, while in more recent times Quentin Tarantino, a fan of our heroine, shot the film
day and which, I believe, will continue to be read in the decades to come. The plot unfolds with a little girl who’s escaped from a refugee camp in Greece after World War II and who knows nothing about her origins. The name Modesty would be giv- en to her by a Hungarian scientist who is the one responsible for her constant desire for knowledge, while her surname comes from the character who was the teacher of Merlin the wizard. In Tangier she becomes the leader of a criminal organisation called The Network. Willie Garvin is her right hand man and the only one who has the right to call her Princess. He loves her, but in a platonic way, not daring to cross the line of friendship. Otherwise, the good-looking Willie was created to resem- ble a young Michael Caine, who impressed O’Donnell. Having had her fill of life among criminals and having amassed enough mon- ey, Modesty heads to the UK, where Sir Ger- ald Tarrant offers her the chance to occasion-

Publishing company “Dark- wood” has thus launched a very ambitious project: Modesty in a large edition and hardback form in a full 12 books. And in the Ser- bian Cyrillic script!
