ER SRBIJA IZ NIŠA LETI KA NOVIH DESTINACIJA AIR SERBIA FLYING FROM NIŠ TO 12 NEW DESTINATIONS

A ir Serbia CEO Duncan Naysmith and Serbian Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Zorana Mihajlović have signed a contract on the granting of 12 routes of public im- portance (PSO). The flights from Niš’s Constantine the Great Airport will be conducted by the Serbian national airline, with the con- tract signed after an international tender that saw the only appropri- ate bid submitted by Air Serbia. The Government of Serbia has secured budget funds to compensate for the costs of air transport services, so new lines are expected to be launched, as of 15th July, from the air- port in Niš to Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Rome, Hanover, Ljubljana, Salz- burg, Bologna, Budapest, Gothenburg, Friedrichshafen, Karlsruhe and Tivat. The contract signing ceremony was also attended by Air Serbia’s Executive Director for Cooperation with State Bodies and Organisa- tions, Branislav Malović, and Assistant Transport Minister Zoran Ilić. Assistant Transport Minister Ilić announced that the Government of Serbia brought the decision to introduce lines of public interest, which is in accordance with European practises and regulations, in or- der to provide assistance to less developed regions. “In this way, we’re encouraging the faster economic development of southern and eastern Serbia, connecting with our diaspora, where an estimated 1.2 million people from our country live, as well as en- couraging the further development of tourism. I believe that busi- nesses and citizens from the southern and eastern regions will be sat- isfied,” said Ilić.
