SLOVENIJA: SAVRŠEN POGLED SA TRIGLAVA
SLOVENIA: PERFECT VIEW FROM TRIGLAV THEHIGHESTPEAKOFTHEJULIANALPSSTANDS at 2,864 metres/asl, and on that wonderful, snowy peak you can enjoy all the magic of winter, but also fantastic views of the frozen Lake Bohinj in the valley below. The north-western part of Slovenia is home to the Ju- lian Alps, which were named after Julius Caesar and rise to the highest peak of Triglav, which you can enjoy the most beautiful views of if you head to the adjacent Vogel Moun- tain. The gondola lift that carries you to an elevation of 1,537 meters/asl will provide you with a picture postcard view: of Lake Bohinj in the valley and, above it, Slovenia’s highest mountain peak. The Vogel Ski Resort is the only major centre for win- ter sports in Triglav National Park, which is Slovenia’s larg- est and most important national park. Extending along the border area with Italy and Austria, it represents one of the oldest national parks in Europe, having been founded in 1924. Here a panoramic restaurant stands at an elevation exceeding 1,500 metres/asl, where - alongside fine food and drink - you can enjoy fantastic views of the alpine beauty of the national park. Special mention should be made of the ski run that leads from the top of Vogel all the way to the foot of the moun- tain, to Lake Bohinj itself. Covering its length means travers- ing an altitude differential of around 1,000 metres on skis. There are also two black runs, which are of course intended for the most advanced skiers. Bohinj offers restaurants and accommodation facilities, but also a water park that oper- ates year-round and has swimming pools and water attrac- tions, as well as wellness and spa treatments. Skating on the frozen Lake Bohinj is a special experience.
