Iz Tokija smo sa Olimpijskih igara kući doneli devet medalja – tri zlatne, jedno srebro i pet bronzi

We brought nine medals home from the Tokyo Olympics - three golds, one silver and five bronze

Serbian athletes achieved notable results during the year that’s now coming to an end, and it was a genuine pleasure for us to recall, at least briefly, all the successes. And there were plenty of them... T he most valued medals are those that were won in Tokyo, and we brought home nine of them - three golds, one silver and five bronze med- als, but Serbian athletes also proved success- ful at European and world championships, as well as in team sports, where our national teams are almost always among the top competitors. Here we’ve selected for you ten athletes and teams who will fondly remember 2021 and wish for 2022 to be just as good. We haven’t ranked them in order of merit, because every trophy has its own significance and they all required per- sonal sacrifice, sweat, pain... That’s known best by those who won them, and who we heartily supported in 2021.

No year can pass without mentioning the name of the world’s best tennis player. Đoković was again unrivaled in 2021, winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon, as well as playing in the finals of the U.S. Open. He holds the record for the number of weeks spent at the top of the ATP list and is set to finish a seventh year as the No.1 ranked player. But Novak is also achieving victories off the court. He has founded an organisation that’s attempting to bring equality to tennis and to help lower-ranked players overcome all the challenges imposed on them by the pandemic.

This girl from Aranđelovac delighted us all at the Tokyo Games. She arrived in Japan as the European champion from Poreč and showed that, when it comes to karate, she’s without equal on the planet. She handled the pressure of the Olympic Games and, blow by blow, made her way to gold in the category up to 61 kilograms.
