Here’s one fact that you certainly didn't know – Serbia’s bowlers became the best on the planet for the fourth consecutive time. They marked the end of 2021 after winning gold at the nine-pin bowling World Team Championships in Poland. Or, more precisely, they merely retained what was already theirs. As they did in 2019 and 2017... Moreover, our guys also set a new world record en route to the throne, which now totals 4,140 pins. You won’t recognise them on the street and you won’t know if you happen to sit next to the best on the planet on a flight. That’s why it would be proper to mention them all by name. We were brought gold by Igor Kovačić, Robert Ernješi, Radovan Vlajkov, Vilmoš Zavarko, Čongor Baranj, Adrijan Lončarević, Bojan Kličarić, Danijel Tepša and Aleksandar Milinković, and they were led by head coach Vojko Pavlović.

Serbia has spent a full 26 years waiting for a medal in boxing. Once a boxing superpower, it has fallen to the periphery of the noble art since the 1970s. However, the ambitious people from the Boxing Federation felt that the World Championship in Belgrade provided an opportunity for us to return to the map. And that optimism turned out to be well- founded. Vladimir Mirončikov reached a bronze medal, but he nearly secured a place in the final.
