C ooperation between our oldest museum institution, the Na- tional Museum in Belgrade, and Nikola Tesla Airport, as a place where many of our passengers are introduced to Serbia of the first time, has led to the created of a museum at- mosphere in the airport area. As a way of welcoming the summer season, the miniature museum in the waiting rooms of gates C3 and C4 opened in early Ju- ly, which is the most active time of the year in terms of the numbers of passen- gers using services at Nikola Tesla Air- port. Replicas of the works of famous artists from the collection of the Nation- al Museum collection are on display in this mini museum, thus bringing the cul- ture and art of our region and the world closer to travellers. The impressiveness artworks from Serbia’s largest national museum and other domestic and for- eign artists form an important segment of passengers’ experience during their time at the airport. The mini museum contains works from the “Art tour” of the National Mu- seum in Belgrade, as well as replicas of paintings by famous domestic and for- eign authors from the National Muse- um in Belgrade’s rich collection, such as Paja Jovanović’s “Portrait of Mihajlo Pupin” from 1903, Đura Jakšić’s “Girl in Blue” from 1856, Sava Šumanović’s 1924 work “Shepherds”, Mondrijani’s “Compo- sitions” from 1929, Picasso’s 1909 work “Head of a Woman”, and many more. The museum setting and presenting of Serbia through the prism of history and culture is also important as both the first and last impression passengers’ will take away from the airport, along with its superior standard facilities that pro- vide a comfortable and interesting at- mosphere for passengers during their stay at the airport. Passengers are also welcomed by the National Museum with posters mounted in the waiting rooms for gates A4-A5, where segments from the history of our region are depicted. Approaching Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, travellers can see painted ar- tistic content on the building’s glass sur- faces, which have enriched and beautified this part of the airport with their structure. The exhibited contents at Nikola Tes- la Airport form part of a promotional pro- gramme commemorating the reopening of the National Museum in Belgrade on 28 th June 2018, with the aim of shifting the perception of the cultural offer of Bel- grade and Serbia in international circles. The museum display at Nikola Tesla Airport runs until 15 th September 2018.
